Gavin Smith - Project Manager

 
Gavin has over fourteen years full time hands-on experience as a project manager covering a range of geographically diverse projects with national and international teams and differing technologies. Starting his career in 1990, as a civilian with the UK Government, UK RAF and Army, Gavin managed a diverse range of projects including: the installation and commissioning of  VHF, UHF and HF antenna sites; new video and data micro wave links for specialist CCTV systems; through to a re-fit of the electronic warfare suit on the Nimrod-R aircraft fleet.
 
Following a move to New Zealand in 1998 Gavin spent 7 years working in the technology sector on new product development. During this time he managed research in new technologies; development of various embedded (software and hardware) platforms; manufacturing outsource; IT software for the back office management; and the definition and implementation of the IT software for issues management.
 
Gavin brings the following capabilities to the business:
 
  • Technical project management expertise
  • New Product Development (NPD) using Stage-Gate
  • Application software and IT business development using Waterfall, Agile.
  • Technical procurements through competitive tenders.
  •  
    Gavin has a  B.Eng (hons) degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Manchester, is a chartered engineer and a member of the Project Management Institute and a certified Project Management Professional 
     
    With a new family – twins – and a demanding job Gavin should not have much time for other activities but will still jump at the chance to go skiing, mounting biking or just to the pub for a beer.
